OUR CURRICULUM

At Millbrook we love to learn through play and have lots of fun as we do so. Children learn from well thought out continuous provision areas indoors and outside. We plan for the Seasons; Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. We observe children at play and follow children’s interests. We then plan meaningful learning experiences for them, based on their needs and interests.

 

INDIVIDUAL CHILDREN

Adults are skilled at working with children, helping them to make progress and develop a love of learning.

We aim to celebrate each child as an individual. If children need additional support, they are quickly identified and any barriers to learning worked upon.

 

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE

Communication and language is very important to us. Please support us by listening to and talking to your child as much as possible. Put down mobile phones and other technological equipment and talk about your day! Share books, look at pictures, make up your own stories and have a regular bedtime routine.

We try to build a language rich environment. ‘Tales Toolkit’ has been recently introduced and is having a positive impact on children’s language development.

 

WAYS TO HELP

We recognise that parents are children’s first educators. Please help us by:

  • Helping your child to be independent with dressing.
  • Share stories and sing songs.
  • Count in real life.
  • Spend time looking for changes in nature.
  • Talk about anything and everything.
  • Make sure your child has a good bedtime routine.
