At Millbrook Community Primary School, we believe that learning a Modern Foreign Language is essential for our pupils to become global citizens and broaden their horizons. The Modern Foreign Language taught at Millbrook is Spanish.
We aim to:
- Develop a curiosity and understanding of other cultures and languages.
- Build a foundation for further language learning in secondary school and beyond.
- Equip pupils with basic communication skills in a foreign language.
- Promote an appreciation for tolerance, diversity and inclusion.
The Learning Objectives taught are led by Chris Quigley Essentials Curriculum and we use the Primary Languages Network to teach objectives.
Spanish lessons will be via online Video 2 Teach lessons from the Primary Languages Network. These lessons are led by a teacher who is a native Spanish speaker. Class teachers facilitate and support this teaching. Lessons are interactive, engaging and incorporate a balance of listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities.
