Year 6 Sycamore

Welcome to Sycamore

Teacher: Miss Dixon
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Maloney
Lunchtime Supervisor: Mrs Hilditch

Welcome to Sycamore Class! Miss Dixon and Mrs Maloney are excited to begin a new school year together.

We’re looking forward to all the exciting activities we have planned, as well as working hard and achieving our very best.

Please see below for important information on what your child will be learning about this year.  We will post photos and updates to showcase what has been happening in class on Class Dojo.

Start time: 8:50am
Finish time: 3:20pm

P.E. day: Thursday (PM)

Please send your child to school in their outdoor P.E. kit and a pair of trainers on those days.  Please adhere to the school uniform policy and school colours.

HOMEWORK: Friday returned by the following Wednesday.

In Sycamore Class, children can earn Class Dojos for showing great behaviour, working hard, being polite, and helping others. Parents can use the codes sent home to connect to our Class Dojo page and keep track of their child’s progress. As a class, we also work together to collect dojo points—if we reach 5,000 points in a term, the children earn a special reward! This encourages teamwork and helps everyone support each other in reaching our goals.

Please see the link below for further support with maths curriculum at home:

The children are expected to do at least 10 minutes of TT Rockstars each night at home. This will allow their times tables knowledge to improve as well as their fluency. Our maths topics are all linked to times tables, so having a good recall and understanding of times tables will allow the children to have success in their maths lessons.

You can help at home by:

  • Reading each night with your child or asking your child questions about what they have read.
  • Discussing what is in the news and sharing opinions
  • Timetable Rockstars
  • Telling the time
